8/3/14- Wes Aarum- the question- the paralytic was prisoner in his own body until 4 friends lowered him into the building where Jesus was. Jesus saw the faith of the friends. He saw how deep the paralysis went and forgave his sins first. The religious leaders merely thought that he was a blasphemer were addressed out loud. Rom 3:23. We all have sinful mind. It is hostile. 8/10/14- Ryan kozey- life verse series. Paul wrote the book of Romans. Justification of Jesus life and the change that happens in someone when Jesus enters their life. That is one of Paul's focus. 1. Clearly points to where I can place my hope. Exclusivity of Jesus as the only way. The gift of justification vs works 2. 7/20/14- nourished- Jerry gillis- Why we feel tension 1. Distance- came 50 miles from Jerusalem. Sons of Korah would serve a few weeks a year. They felt like they were home at the temple because this is the place where the presence o God was. Ps 84. Your soul is home when is in the presence of God. Augustine of hippo- confessions. For us everything has hanged. Heb 10:19-22. We can dwell in the presence of God daily. We have access because of Jesus. 2. Distractors- surrounded by pagan nations. 6/1/14 chapel/ choose to be rich/ Jerry- We can lol at this wrongly by calling it the doctrine of deserving ie. God has given me everything to consume on myself. The gospel if grace contrasts this. God provides what we need and is rich in every way and will provide our every need so we can become more like him. God's riches are exhaustive. Rich in salvation, kindness, forbearance, patience, holiness, grace, etc. He is rich in every way and He will provide our every need. He provides physical needs, righteous never forsaken. He provides emotional needs (psalm 17/68). Spiritual needs (gen 22:13-14). So we can become more like him every day ( for our enjoyment)bless us so we can be a blessing. Heb 12:1-2.
