"Samuel offered burnt offerings to the Lord and then the Lord answered". Now I don't have to offer those kind of sacrifices in this new covenant I have with God, but rather I offer spiritual sacrifices (striving for holiness, righteousness by faith in Jesus, praise and thanksgiving), which can precede my miracles and answered prayers.
