Perhaps a shower with numerous small meteors hits the earth and burns up the grass and trees. A larger meteor in the shower hits the ocean causing most of the sea life to die as well as causing earthquakes worldwide. The earthquakes would damage nuclear power plants which would release their waste into the atmosphere and pollute fresh water when it comes down as rain. The meteor strikes would also send massive amounts of dust and smoke into the upper atmosphere which would quickly span the globe and at least partially block out the sun and moon. All of this could explain the first four trumpet judgements and could all happen in one day with the aftermath spanning a few weeks. See the Revelation 8:1 note.
