He was glad so he could show the power of God, this was his last miracle before his triumphal entry. Trials provide us with opportunities to praise God. Trials are useful for building our character. Trials are very effective at weaning us away from life's distractions, amusements, diversions and illusions. Trials help loosen our grip on the foolish belief that health and prosperity rather than God are deserving of our allegiance and our dependence. Trials give us the opportunity to demonstrate God's power and wisdom to those outside of His family.
